It tries and tries hard to deliver a gripping drama about corruption, but it completely drops the ball by seriously underestimating the audience's intelligence. The core idea is poorly executed, especially when it comes to the banking world. The show treats a major financial institution like a joke. A bank manager casually steals customers' money, and an employee carries out huge transfers with no authorization, no paperwork, and zero legal process, as if regulations and oversight simply do not exist. These are basic, obvious questions the series never even tries to answer, expecting viewers to just accept everything without thinking.

The bigger issue is that the show clearly feels aimed at a very young audience, mostly teenagers or even kids, and almost exclusively Egyptian viewers. The drama is so over-the-top it becomes exhausting. The main character is written as if he is the center of the universe. He is always perfect, always honest, always brave, always the victim, and always the hero who saves everyone else. Meanwhile, everyone around him is either a traitor or a disappointment. This worn-out stereotype in Egyptian dramas shows up again here with no creativity at all. Instead of being inspiring, the lead character comes off as arrogant and shallow.

What really hurts is that the actor himself is genuinely talented and has a strong track record in high-quality projects, whether in shared roles or leading ones like Room 207. Because of that, this series feels like a bad mark on his career and a letdown for his fans. The disappointment also extends to the production side. A platform like Shahid is usually known for content ranging from decent to good, but this level of quality drop is hard to ignore.

Overall, the viewing experience is draining. The first episodes alone were enough to create strong disgust, making it almost impossible to continue. Long, boring, and ridiculous scenes push you to skip large chunks just to get through it. In the end, Expired fails to convince, fails to respect the viewer's intelligence, and leaves behind a sense of frustration and disappointment instead of excitement or enjoyment.
