Paul Daniels in Wipeout (1994)

Trivia

Episode #2.6

Wipeout

This edition contains a questionable grid with the subject of "political correctness".

The grid alleges that terms such as "black coffee" should no longer be said, and many of them seem there to provide Paul the opportunity to offer his indignation. At one point he discusses "follically challenged", before pointing to his head and saying: "I'm not. I'm bald. Alright?"
A grid on 12 fictional detectives is included in this edition.

Although many of them have appeared in film and television - including Charlie Chan and Sherlock Holmes - they are not included under "Movie Connections" as they originated in print form first. Only the three detectives who originated on television are listed.
This edition didn't make the Top 70 Chart.
The final grid game, pets from Blue Peter (1958), was later revisited in Episode #5.7 (1998).

However, the later edition was based only on dogs from the series, and contained just five of the same answers: Bonnie, Goldie, Jason, Joey and Petra. As Jason was a cat and Joey was a parrot, both became Wipeouts.
The grid subjects featured on this edition are:

Main Grids: Politically correct terms; Parliament names around the world; Pen names for writers.

Auction Grids: Words that can be preceded by the word "green"; Fictional private detectives who don't work directly for the police.

Final Grid: Pets from Blue Peter.
