Paul Daniels in Wipeout (1994)

Trivia

Episode #2.5

Wipeout

In 2014 Paul Daniels did some promotional shorts for Challenge TV, who were reshowing the series.

In one of them Paul suggested that a lot of the real humour of the show was cut out of the edit, stating: "The funniest game show I've ever done... was Wipeout. But not the one you saw", followed by laughter.

This claim appears to be backed up in this edition, where Paul points out to the TV audience and states: "If they knew what we got up to..."
This edition didn't make the Top 70 Chart.
The grid subjects featured on this edition are:

Main Grids: Named after people?; Nursery rhymes related to Kings and Queens since 1066; Ologies;

Auction Grids: Prime numbers; Places beginning with "Port"; Songs with alcoholic drinks in the title.

Final Grid: Soap stars who had a Top 20 single hit.
The final grid - soap stars who had a UK Top 20 hit single - was reused as an Auction Grid in Episode #5.61 (1998).

The two grids were so similar that they shared 10 of the 12 answers. The sole two differences were that this one had "Alan Dale" and "Bill Treacher", whereas the later version would instead include "Michelle Gayle" and "Sue Nicholls".
