Paul Daniels in Wipeout (1994)

Trivia

Episode #1.14

Wipeout

This edition didn't make the Top 70 Chart.
Colin Edmonds is credited as a Programme Associate on this, Episode #1.3 (1994) and Episode #1.13 (1994), but on none of the other series one episodes.
The first five grids before the final were previously used in Unaired Pilot 2 (1994): Words made up of initials; the name of animal offspring; Eurovision winners; MP or Not? and Currency. As the unaired pilot only needed two Wipeout Auction grids to decide the player going on to the final, a sixth grid wasn't played there, though would presumably have been the same as here, "Olympic Hosts".

While Paul's demonstration grid in the final is new, the four categories offered were also present in the same pilot. (Coincidentally, both contestants chose the category related to English cities, so that while the unscreened pilot titled the category "UK Places", it was possible to see that it didn't include any places from Wales or Scotland, despite the name.)
The grid subjects featured on this edition are:

Main Grids: Acronyms; Names of animal offspring; Eurovision Song Contest winners.

Auction Grids: Current MP or not?; World currencies; Country hosts of the Summer Olympics.

Final Grid: English cities.
