Bob Monkhouse in Wipeout (1994)

Trivia

Episode #5.25

Wipeout

In a grid on cartoon double acts, the characters of Tom and Jerry plus Sylvester and Tweety Pie are listed. As these characters appeared in multiple shorts and weren't related to a single series, they haven't been included in Movie Connections.
Bob signed off the majority of his shows by telling a joke, then stating "wipes me out", before saying goodbye to the viewers.

This is slightly changed in this edition, where he tells a gag about mixing alcohol and petrol, telling viewers: "We don't want you to be a Wipeout."
This edition includes a grid called "Terms", which features acronyms (or near acronyms) to describe lifestyle choices, such as the then-popular term for Young Urban Professionals, YUPPIES. A grid with the same concept appeared 14 months earlier in the Paul Daniels edition Episode #4.4 (1995).

The two grids had many different options, sharing just 6 of the same possible answers. However, as all 6 - DINKY, OINK, SITCOM, GUPPIE, WOOPIE and GLAM - were correct answers, the players would have been able to get over half the right answers had they seen the Paul Daniels edition on television.

(This doesn't appear to have happened, as OINK and SITCOM are among the last three answers left when 4 Wipeouts have been revealed, but it's curious that 3 of the 6 are the first 3 chosen.)
The grid subjects featured on this edition are:

Main Grids: Lifestyle acronyms; Cartoon double acts.

Auction Grids: Commonwealth countries; Characters played by Clint Eastwood; Trademarks.

Final Grid: Countries that have English as an official language.
The subject of the first Auction Grid - Commonwealth countries - was one of the most reoccurring grids in the series.

It originated in Episode #4.13 (1996), and was reused in Episode #6.16 (1998) and Episode #6.51 (1999). Although the answers would be different, the country of "Fiji" was present in all four instances.
