Bob Monkhouse starts each show by reeling off gags and one liners as he chats to the contestants. By his own admission, some of the jokes can be old, or corny, but usually get a laugh from the players regardless.

Yet there's a moderately uncomfortable start to this edition where two of his jokes get a polite smile and raised eyebrows from the contestants, indicating they didn't really find them particularly funny.

Bob refers to a film of David Copperfield during a grid on Dickens characters. However, as more than one adaptation of the book had been produced and Bob doesn't specify which one, this hasn't been included in Movie Connections.

Final Grid: Champagne bottle sizes.

The final grid on this edition - Champagne Bottles - would later appear as an Auction Grid in Episode #6.30 (1999).

The Auction Grid was slightly modified so that the subject was champagne measurements rather than "bottles" (as "bottle" was one of the options) but six of the possible answers were the same on both grids.

Diana Dors appears as an answer on a grid about the cover to Sgt. Pepper, with Bob referring to her as "Dear Diana Dors".

The two had a brief affair in the 1950s and remained friends, something discussed in their respective autobiographies.
