The school which the young Xin Niang attended is Singapore Chinese Girls' School. When the young Xin Niang had to stand outside the classroom as punishment and saw the gallery explaining the history of the school, the name of the school was displayed clearly. In fact, at the time when the young Xin Niang would have attended school in the late 1950s, the school was located at Emerald Hill itself, its second location since its founding in 1899. The school would move again in 1994.
Being a school set up for girls and after 1946 where girls of all races are able to attend, it has included former students among its alumni like actresses Rui En and Janice Koh (who would later have a stint as a nominated member of Singapore's parliament), the eighth and only female president of Singapore as yet (as of 2025) in Halimah Yacob.

It is the flashback scenes which showed how Xin Niang have always wanted to meet Yueniang since Shu Qin told her Yueniang's backstory.
According to Ying Jie, the majie working at the brothel, Zhou Hong Yu, the person who attempted to run away from the brothel back in Ep 7 (2025), is 17 years of age. Bai Ah Li had information that Hong Yu was supposed to be sold off to the highest bidder, likely to be Wu De, whom Bai Ah Li called 'Immoral De'.
While at the brothel after the police had arrived to arrest the people involved with Hong Yu, Xin Niang while explaining the situation called Yao Zu (who arrived with the police) her 'brother', in English. It has to be said, Yao Zu is the only child of Shu Yu and Zhang Jin Hai, making him Xin Niang's adoptive cousin.
