After the events of Xiao niang re (2008) (except for scenes shown in the modern times which back then would have been at the time of airing in 2008), Yueniang has become quite a successful businesswoman in her own right, having various businesses both in Malaysia and Singapore, according to Si Li. It came after her adult daughter An Na was curious about the arrival of their distant relative to the mansion.
Jeanette Aw's Yamamoto Yueniang's link to this drama series after Xiao niang re (2008) would become clear that she is a distant relative of the Zhangs, according to Xiu Niang, after Shu Qin spoke of how she first came to know about her. Not only that, Yueniang's adopted son (who will later be Huang Zu Yue, seen for the first time in Ep 7 (2025)), whom Xiu Niang speculated would be 18 or 19 years of age, is originally her sister's. Though it is running contrary to how back in Xiao niang re (2008), Yueniang's adopted son is actually her cousin's biological son.
The adult Xin Niang got excited about the prospect of meeting the 'legendary' Yueniang (whom she said Yin Niang and Shu Qin had often told her about), after she spoke of how Ah Yan had told her Yueniang is coming from Melaka, which is Malacca in present terms, and just like in the timing of the episode and in the present, is in Malaysia.
The reason for Xiu Niang and Shu Qin's reaction when the adult Xin Niang volunteered herself to prepare a dish for Yueniang's arrival would become clear after Xin Niang left for the kitchen, due to the revelation that Xin Niang's Nyonya cooking is not up to standard.
The episode which came to see the adult versions of An Na and Xin Niang, but only shown later in the episode being played by Chantalle Ng and Tasha Low respectively.
