While the young An Ya's fate is unknown despite the ransom being paid, the episode shifted to years later when Li Ping Chen's character actual name is mentioned, when the young Xin Niang called her 'Cai Zhu Niang'. Li Ping's character has always been referred to as Ah Zhu in promotional material for the drama series.
There were times the British, the colonial government were mentioned amongst the various characters in the episode. Singapore in 1950 returned back to British control after the end of WW2, and it would be in 1959 Singapore achieved self-government status, meaning the British still retain partial control.
At the company premises, the three Zhang brothers were discussing business and its exposure to the Korean War. While this means that the drama series is still set in 1950 given the war started in that year, Jin He had raised his doubts over when the war would end. An armistice was to be reached three years later in 1953.
