Pete goes on a typical commercial audition for a pharmaceutical. Along the way, he encounters his roommate Keith, his casting director friend Valerie, and his actor/comedian friend Ellen. Ellen auditions for the same spot.

Keith has an awkward improvised audition for a product that remains "Confidential." Valerie vents to a former co-worker online. Pete and Keith try to decide what kind of web-series they want to make.

Ellen does stand-up at an open mic. Pete has a tough audition for a brand of paint. Pete and Keith's series faces an early budget crisis. Valerie and Keith have an anonymous online video game fight.

Ellen gets some bad news from an agent, which leads to a full-blown age crisis. Keith wonders if he's just been cut from an audition. Pete explains an awkward interaction he had with his agent. Valerie and Ellen formally decide to be friends.

Keith tells Pete how he pulls all-nighters and goes right to auditions. Valerie's boss, Mark Lyell, of Mark Lyell Casting, returns from vacation and restores his office to a state of dysfunction. Valerie suffers for her night of revelry with Ellen. Pete gets creeped out when Mark acts like they're best friends.

Pete's normalcy is a breathe of fresh air for Valerie during an audition for a Sporting Goods store called "Clyde's". Ellen goes in for a "Bua" car spot that only requires her to say one line. Keith endures name droppers.

Executives from Clyde's attend Pete's callback. Mark's assistant; Devan, gives Valerie some unsolicited advice. Ellen's Bua callback is done with the exec on video chat. Pete and Keith discuss ways to make their series work for them.

Pete gets the news that he's booked Clyde's and attends a fitting with the execs and costume designer. Ellen gets word that she didn't book Bua, and self-destructs onstage.

Pete shoots his Clyde's commercial. Valerie confronts Mark in the most strategic way possible. Keith gets some constructive criticism during a voiceover audition.

Pete sees a cut of the Clyde's spot. Ellen sees a cut of the Bua spot. Pete and Keith write for their series, but get distracted when Valerie only friend requests one of them. Pete observes business as usual in the commercial world.
