The band playing the first award show is called Yolo Tomassi and the Rude Boys in Blue. The name is a parody of a famous line from L.A. Confidential (1997) (1997) in which Kevin Spacey's character utters the name Rollo Tomassi as he is dying to his corrupt captain in order to trick him into exposing his guilt.
Kumail Nanjiani's character "Gator Joe" is a parody of online sensation Joe Exotic, a private zoo owner and tiger enthusiast who rose to fame in part thanks to Netflix's hit documentary series "Tiger King (2020)."
During the awards ceremony, as the award for best undercover operation is announced for "Diego Verbinski, The Third", the person giving the award says he couldn't be there that night as he's still undercover with the cartel. A janitor can be seen for a brief moment silently pumping his fist, who is listed in the credits as Diego Verbinski.
