A highly amusing and effective short film following a group of filmmakers who hire the services of a medium (Eileen Barnett) who claims to be able to communicate with the legendary creator of "Citizen Kane" Orson Welles, and those folks are involved with creating an ending to the (then) unfinished Welles' film "The Other Side of the Wind". Each of the three movie business figures had their own ideas on coming up with a perfect conclusion but there's no agreement about, so conjuring Orson makes necessary - getting some insights on the after-life could be great too.

Orson's spirit shows up in the seance and he's performed by veteran character actor Peter Jason (who actually worked on "The Other Side...") and he's the man of the hour in the piece. He becomes Welles in a great manner, though the voice doesn't sound all that much like him. But he gets quite close, and it's incredibly fun to watch. If Jason's name isn't familiar to you, the face is, as he appeared in countless films and TV shows. He has one of those remarkable faces you don't forget, when he's on the screen you keep on pushing your memory to remember where do you know 'that guy'. Tip: many Walter Hill films. Here's a lovely chance to see him at the center stage delivering a funny performance.

Apart from the leading man, the little story is very entertaining and greatly acted by the cast. And the big joke about the mythical unreleased film by Orson works plenty; though it may lost part of its essence because the movie was put together a few years after the short, and it's no longer a matter of mystery and tales. But for a long period of time, "The Other Side of the Wind" was one of the greatest examples of how movie lovers and insiders created theories, threw stories about it and many wondered what could be this project of Welles, how it would turn out.

For all the trouble he had in making it and to never see it finished, his spirit out there definitely worked hard so that the living folks could finish it for him. And as someone who left many unfinished projects, this one could not be allowed to become just another source of legend. I guess that's why "Conjuring Orson" has something of a real connection with the supernatural. That film saw the light of day. 10/10.
