Maxence Ewers (gaffer) previously worked on the film Sumotherhood (2023) in dailies. Sumotherhood was one of the film inspirations for Movie Man Munch.
AJ, the main protagonist in the film, is loosely based on the writer & director Ryan Daly.
Director Ryan Daly was already friends with actor/YouTuber Mark Ricci (Movie Man Mark) before development began. Mark guest starred twice in Ryan's 'Guess London Slang' YouTube videos from 2018, and from 2023 Ryan worked as Mark's editor for his channel. When Ryan had the idea for Movie Man Munch, he pitched it to Mark in a voice note. Mark liked the idea and was on board to star in the film.
Movie Man Munch was originally going to parody Amazon delivery and co-director Nyhal Adams' life experiences. It then developed into a parody of food delivery, YouTube brands and director Ryan Daly's life experiences.
