Great guest cast barely there, silly banter instead

Ugly writing in several respects. Two major examples.

(1) Fly all these great, talented, familiar actors to the Caribbean, and have them in and out of their few scenes in the blink of an eye, with almost no backstory? While the endless banter between the regulars takes half the show, not even especially funny this time?

(2) Humph's wife had had a real problem that Humph arrogantly belittled in a way that would surely cause her hurt for the rest of her life, suicides have happened for less, and many many marriages have recovered from worse? All because he has a very unprofessional lust for junior staff?

We are in process of streaming Paradise from S01E01 and this is the least likable episode so far.
