Writer/Director Rene Zhang based the screenplay on experiences he had with loneliness and depression, during a long hotel stay in Amsterdam. The screenplay was also written in a hotel.
The Crew used a iPhone 5 on a waterproof case to achieve the underwater shots in the hotel bathroom sink.
