Amazon Prime Video touts a Luc Besson connection for this movie, which prompted me to watch it, but Besson's name is nowhere in the credits and frankly, Hell in Paradise is not good enough to be a Luc Besson movie, though it's quite watchable.

A French production with mostly English dialouge, the story is centrerd around Nina, a woman from Marseilles, played by Nova Arnezedar, who takes a job in an island resort. There, she lands in trouble when a child drowns in the pool, seemingly on her watch.

From then on the script goes a bit crazy, with our innocent abroad going through hell. Nina is not a strong, level headed woman. She cries and faints and vomits through the movie as things get tougher and tougher. The island is largely Muslim and she's not very sensetive to the culture, which makes things worse.

The cast is largely Indian, with Alyy Khan putting in an great performance in a negative role and Shubham Saraf ever charming in a positive role.

The ending's very contrived and streches your credulity, but hey, the script has painted our heroine into such a corner that it takes a miracle to get her out.
