The monster, which should be the terrifying centerpiece, looks like someone glued rubber parts together the night before shooting. When it finally appears, it's more laughable than frightening. The soundtrack is aggressively overused, blasting dramatic cues for things as mundane as someone opening a fridge. Instead of tension, we get cheap tricks. Instead of horror, we get boredom wrapped in bad lighting.
