I'm a huge fan of season one and the book series by Hugh Howey. But season two is a total letdown. I don't know if Apple cut the production budget, but it feels like it. Every scene is shot in the dark with essentially two characters talking to each other. Gone is the spectacle of season one. The story also significantly deviates from the book. That would be fine if it was actually interesting or made for some decent set pieces, but it seems to have made the narrative less compelling. I'll keep watching because I'm a fan of the books, but it's not looking good four episodes into season two. I'm still hopeful.
