Root Note is a very interesting animated short. Its color palette works particularly well, fitting the wartime battlefield setting filled with smoke and dust. It reinforces the depressive, melancholic atmosphere while also enhancing the film's vintage visual style.

The protagonists are four plants that form a jazz band. Then something unexpected happens when a soldier discovers them. I don't think the story should be taken from a strictly realistic or serious perspective, even though almost everything else in the film strongly suggests realism. Nice work!
