A Strong Story That Needed a Stronger Director

It feels like a film with good intentions and solid raw material that needed more confident execution. You can see the better version of the movie hiding underneath it, which honestly makes the disappointment stronger.

The film disappointed me more because I genuinely wanted to like it. The premise is interesting, the actors are talented, and the film has the foundation of something memorable. I actually started watching it with a very positive mindset, expecting a grounded rustic drama with sharp humour and emotion.

But as the film progressed, the inexperience in direction became increasingly visible. The actors themselves are clearly capable performers and have done excellent work elsewhere, which is why I feel the problem lies more in how the performances were handled rather than the casting itself. The dialogue delivery often lacks rhythm, as if the actors were never pushed toward the right emotional tone for a scene and to cuss way more than needed.

Another issue was the tonal confusion. The comedy scenes and serious moments are treated almost the same way, even down to the background score, which weakens the emotional impact of both. At times, the film does capture an authentic rustic atmosphere, and that part genuinely works. But the constant theatrical play happening in the background felt unnecessary, almost like noise added to convince the audience that the film is deeper than it actually is.
