This fan-made Star Wars film about Boba Fett feels truer to the original image I had of him. The way Fett was portrayed in Disney's spin-offs never fully caught my interest, even though I've watched every episode. One standout detail in this film is the variety of creatures in the bar where Fett and Bossk meet-exactly the kind of world-building I've always loved in Star Wars: countless beings from across the galaxy gathering to drink, gamble, and size each other up over a sabacc table.

The story itself is simple and lightly humorous-at least as humorous as a tale about a bounty hunter can be. Boba tells Bossk about a hunt that went sideways, where he had to disintegrate the target and couldn't collect the reward from Lord Vader because every shred of evidence vaporized with the job. That deadpan irony carries the short forward, until it ends with a tease that clearly suggests another episode is coming.

I have to admit, I still haven't seen the episode that comes before this one, but I assume each short fits into a larger arc, and that makes me hopeful for more installments. The production quality seals the deal: surprisingly strong for a fan-made film, and a welcome return to the mythic, mysterious, quietly ruthless Boba Fett I always imagined lurking in the shadows of the Original Trilogy.
