Watchful Eye was unfortunately another case of me thinking I was watching a completely different movie with the same title. This version, directed by John West, turned out to be an enormous disappointment.

The biggest issue is that this felt like a wasted screenplay and a wasted opportunity. There was clearly room to take the story in a much more thrilling direction, but instead, the filmmakers played it extremely safe. Rather than building suspense or creating moments that kept me guessing, everything felt predictable, flat, and underdeveloped.

The casting choices also didn't work for me. I never felt fully connected to the characters or invested in what they were experiencing. The performances didn't give the story enough energy to overcome the weaknesses in the screenplay, and that made the entire movie feel even more lackluster.

What frustrated me most was the constant feeling that there was supposed to be something more. I kept waiting for the story to finally take off, deliver a major twist, or give me a reason to become invested. Unfortunately, that moment never came.

Ultimately, Watchful Eye was a mishap for me. The screenplay needed more ambition, the casting needed more consideration, and the overall execution needed considerably more energy. I wanted to enjoy this movie, but instead, I found myself struggling just to stay focused until the end. This is definitely not one I would recommend or revisit.
