Trey Parker and Matt Stone entirely missed the point of the seat-up/seat-down issue. The problem isn't falling in. The problem is that when one flushes, one is supposed to put down the LID. The lid exists to keep germs from spewing into the air and all over the bathroom during a flush. The LID has to be down before flushing. Since it's impossible to put down the lid while the seat is up, of course the seat has to be down, too. But the real issue is not the seat itself but the LID. Anyone who flushes with the lid up is getting gross germs all over the bathroom. When someone makes a big deal about wanting to leave the seat up, it's a giveaway that they flush with the lid up, which means they're spewing germs everywhere. THAT is the issue. I kept waiting for the episode to address that obvious fact, but it never did.
