Si saben cómo me pongo ¿pa' qué me invitan? 2 is one of those films that makes it hard to defend popular comedy when it is executed with so little grace. Not because a comedy has to be sophisticated, elegant or deep. There are very silly comedies that work wonderfully. The problem is that almost nothing works here: not the jokes, not the characters, not the situations, not the pacing.

The premise once again brings several couples together in a setting of retreat, therapy, forced coexistence and supposed emotional disaster. On paper, that could offer possibilities. Each character's flaws, obsessions, jealousy, lies, addictions, relationship clashes and secrets could have built a light ensemble comedy. But the film does not develop those possibilities. It simply places caricatures on screen and expects their presence alone to be funny.

The result is exhausting. Each character seems to be defined by one single trait repeated endlessly. One cleans, another insults, another lies, another tells jokes, another has multiple personalities, and so on. There is no real evolution, no surprise, no comic construction. Only accumulation. And accumulation, when there is no wit, does not produce laughter; it produces fatigue.

The worst thing is that the film seems convinced that being loud is the same as being funny. Everything is exaggerated, but not in a good way. Shouting, forced gestures, artificial reactions, scenes that drag on for no reason and a constant feeling of weak television humor stretched too far. Instead of a cinematic comedy, it feels like a string of poor sketches tied together by the thinnest possible plot excuse.

It also does not help that the script treats the characters' disorders, quirks and problems as simple joke machines. Comedy can laugh at anything, of course, but it needs precision, intelligence and some humanity. Here it settles for the easiest route: point to a trait, repeat it, exaggerate it and hope the viewer laughs. But if the joke has no structure, there is no punchline.

The film tries to add a bit of mystery and an almost horror-like touch, but that does not lift the whole thing either. It feels more like another addition so that something, anything, happens in a story that cannot stand on its own. Not even as a sequel does it justify its existence. Maybe someone can enjoy this kind of humor in a group, on a Sunday afternoon, with zero expectations, but even then it is hard to understand how this got a continuation.

Si saben cómo me pongo ¿pa' qué me invitan? 2 is bad. Really bad. Not because it is Colombian, not because it is simple, and not because it is light comedy, but because it fails at the most basic level: it is not funny. And when a comedy is not funny, everything else collapses. Honestly, a turd has more structure, more mystery and probably more narrative dignity than this film.
