If we'd have to pick a song to describe the reality of common people living in Brazil in the 1980's, "Perplexo" would be the perfect song, and a lot more than the rock hymns that were better remembered. While many great bands like Legião Urbana, Engenheiros do Hawaii, Plebe Rude, Cauza and etc. Delivered true statements about Brazilian politics and society in their amazing songs, "Perplexo" goes in a different way and more approachable manner as it dwells upon the many changes in society after the new Constitution, the daily obstacles faced by workers in their everyday struggle with currency changes, new rulings and more, a chaotic and confusing scenario but instead of the urgent pleas or a denouce criticism, Paralamas do Sucesso turns everything into a humored song that mixes rock/pop and frevo. Basically, gotta have energy and humor to deal with the chaos of a rediscovered country.

The "Fantástico" video is a strange and random clip showing the power trio performing in the interior of a tower, many editing tricks and overimposed images, and apart from them there's a dancing woman, and people jumping around over and over. Nothing makes sense, but maybe it's not supposed to, the idea is to leave the viewer - if possible - in a state of perplexity, a state of awe. Doesn't do much, these days. But the song really does. The lyrics and its references are simply perfect, so many memorable lines (my favorite "I'm gonna fight, I'm Maguila, not Tyson"). And the vibes of it all is pure greatness, as it's a fun song that can also make you think. 8/10.
