I'm not particularly fond of erotic cinema, but it's still fascinating to observe what it looked like before it became part of the cinematic language we know today.

Louise Willy spends the film removing layer after layer of clothing, yet she never fully undresses. What makes it interesting is not the nudity itself, but the tension between what is shown and what remains hidden. The body always seems on the verge of being revealed, but it never truly is.

Meanwhile, the husband watches from behind the dressing screen. He becomes a voyeur within the scene, much like the spectator himself, and perhaps one of the earliest examples of what would later be called the "male gaze" in cinema.

What's curious is how playful Louise Willy appears. She doesn't seem uncomfortable at all; instead, she carries herself with a lightness that almost borders on comedy. She even laughs, fully aware of what she is doing. It removes any sense of drama and turns the entire piece into a staged game between actress, spectator - and husband.

It feels like an early cinematic experiment with desire, suggestion, and the act of looking itself. The seed of an idea that cinema would continue to explore throughout the following century.
