Katie Morton had been to visit the Evansville Association for the Blind to prepare for her role to play a girl with no sight. She gained valuable insight from that visit, but on the first day of shooting, she brought some contact lenses from an optometrist that caused her 20/20 vision to be very blurry, to get a better feel for what the world could be like. After that, she no longer needed them and completed all of her "blind" scenes without them.

Goofs
In the scene where Katie Morton's character gets whacked in the head with a lead pipe, if you look close you will notice her handcuffs are missing and she is simply holding onto the tree.
