The documentary focuses on one aspect of the art of Amedeo Modigliani - probably the most important genre he dealt with, and which he is became of of the more poignant exponents of it in the history of art. I have probably seen the shortest version of the film, as it was broadcast on the European culture channel ARTE and it's a pity as the principal critical observation I have for the film was that I felt it was too short. It may be in the missing parts that I could have received some more artistic and background information about the paintings that were screened. As it stands it's too little for a full biography, or for an in-depth study of his artistic creation. Yet, the important information about the biography of the painter, its subjects and the relation and roles they played in his life are present and above all his fabulous art well filmed with many beautiful details. The interview with the grand-daughter of Modigliani is the only important addition beyond biography and the paintings - she seems to be a nice person but does not add too much things that we did not know or guess.
