Fine cast perks up usual Playgirl vignettes

Surveying 100 or so Playgirl videos from a decade ago, "Sensual Playground" has rewarding segments with many of its femme stars well-worth catching.

Among the highlights are the beauty Ahryan Astyn opposite Danny Mountain in "The Watcher" with Randy Spears doing voice-over (uncredited) instead of Danny's familiar British accent. These vignettes are pantomimes, a porn tradition dating back to the original stag movies and still workable.

This segment, as most of the others, is performed bareback - a practice which has made me wonder about the target audience here. For Wicked and Vivid among other major labels, the Couples films stressed safe-sex condoms on screen, yet Playgirl does not -go figure.

Finale has sexy purple prose narration, stemming from a novel being read by luscious Carolyn Reese, who's serviced by Cheyne Collins, an important porn actor of a decade ago when acting was more crucial than today.
