Oh great, as soon as the movie started and the sound of thrumming guitar and the ethereal horse galloped across the screen, heralding this being a movie from Maverick Entertainment, I have to admit that my expectations to "Lady Thug" went from slim to none. Yeah, Maverick Entertainment isn't exactly synonymous with stellar movie entertainment. But I still opted to give the movie a fair chance, on the off-chance that it would be a good movie.

The storyline in the movie, while pretty straightforward, wasn't exactly overly exciting or particularly entertaining. I sort of zoned out not even 30 minutes into the movie, and it became background noise. I didn't care one bit about the characters in the movie, nor about the actual storyline itself. So writer Michael W. Green didn't exactly deliver something great here. And the dialogue in the movie was pretty atrocious. Do people really talk like that?

Needless to say that I was, of course, not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. And that, well, that was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in "Lady Thug" were adequate enough for what the movie turned out to be.

While "Lady Thug" was not exactly the usual rubbish that Maverick Entertainment has been spewing out by the dozen back in the day, then it is hardly a movie that I would recommend you to venture out and get to watch. Nor is it a movie that will ever grace my screen a second time.

My rating of writer and director Michael W. Green's 2024 movie "Lady Thug" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
