The surreal romantic song by Australian alternative rock The Church is alright, it sort of works, but it's the visuals from the video that attracts the most. Not all of the scenes, just some moments that feel special and look great to keep watching over and over. There's something of a gothic horror vibe as the band members walk into a dark forest, a big white light behind their shadowy figures. Then it moves to their performance, singer Steve Kilbey is the key figure getting many close-up shots, and later on a big fire is shown up close and we're about to get terrified thinking the worst might happen. Illusion is shattered when we see that it's just a small bonfire made by the guys.

"Electric Lash" comes from a famous crush of Kilbey - the girl on the radio was a female journalist - and the rest was a bunch of ideas thrown that work here and there, but quite hard to get. A distinctive pop/rock sound that has its appeal, but doesn't hit us with the same effect as The Church later works (late 1980's and early 1990's). The video is quite good, but they should've used such dark and mysterious concept to a sound more in tune with such intriguing visuals. 7/10.
