Quite a lot going on - drugs and alcohol, Japanese Noh theatre, sexual jealousy, mental ill health - but it never quite takes off. Perhaps the runtime is inadequate, but I don't think the story would stretch to ninety minutes.

Characters are surprisingly fleshed out for a short. A quiet woman, her intellectually superior boyfriend, his childhood best friend, a loving but traditional couple, and a miserabilist philosopher, all together for a party in a small flat.

Too much 'tell, don't show', provided vis telephone calls, fragments of conversation and photos on a bathroom wall, all competing with the onscreen action. We guess the ending long before the denouement.

Far from a disaster though. I truly felt for Ana, as the outsider being scrutinised and picked over, but the overall effect was of being caught in an avalanche, only in slow-motion.
