Jeremy Shada was chosen to voice Finn after his older brother Zach, who played the character in the pilot, was unable to reprise his role due to his changing voice.

Some episodes have different versions of the opening theme. In the Fiona & Cake episodes, it is a gender swapped version of the regular intro with a woman singing the theme song. The episode A Glitch Is a Glitch, the opening is CG animated. In Food Chain, the opening has all the characters with Finn and Jake's faces and the theme song is sung by a different singer as well.

Many episodes have had many of the more vulgar and sensitive scenes edited out when aired in countries like the UK and Australia. In fact, some episodes have never aired in some countries as well. Adventure Time also received censorship in regions like Latin America, Philippines and India, and the rest of Europe since they mostly use the UK versions. However, some syndicated airings and DVD releases were uncut. Streaming services outside the US usually use cut versions. The only legal way to watch the uncut version in the PAL region is to buy the home media releases from Madman (Australia/NZ) or Manga UK (only seasons 1-5).
