"In the heat of the cold years" immerses us in post-revolutionary Cuba from the sixties to a time when, for Cuban filmmakers, "all dreams are possible". For ten years, cinema was a priority for the cultural development of the island, a golden age during which the government made it one of its pillars, in the same way as education or health. Cuba will experience an unprecedented cinematic explosion. Actually, import and production of films are limited, cinemas are in ruins and only a handful have survived the past five decades. However, Cubans' love for the 7th Art was able to resist. Of the Havana to Santiago through the mountains of the Sierra Maestra, "In the heat of the cold years" brings us back to this colorful decade and collects memories and testimonies of a legacy that has remained in the shadows.
