When the sign maker installs the house number plate upside down, William Wadsworth goes to visit his son at 809, but winds up invading the house at 608 in this split-reel comedy from Edison.

Even for a split-reel comedy, this one is pretty thin. That's a problem with comedies from the Edison company during this period. Director C.J. Williams, who had a troupe of actors who were perfectly capable of performing polite comedy, were given scenarios in which someone was embarrassed and then the misunderstanding was cleared up. At Keystone and its imitators in slapstick, the emphasis was on the pratfall; at Vitagraph and its imitators, the emphasis was on the performance. Were this scenario offered at either of those studios, there would be kicks or stage business aplenty. There's nothing like that here.
