Though this show is set in Memphis, Tennessee, only one of its main cast members is actually from the southern United States. Jimmy Smits (Elijah Strait) was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York; Caitlin McGee (Sydney Strait) is from the greater Boston area; MaameYaa Boafo (Briana Johnson ) was born in Pakistan and raised in Ghana, West Africa; and Barry Sloane (Jake Reilly) is from Liverpool, England. Michael Luwoye (Anthony Little) is the main cast's sole Southerner, having been born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama; he received his acting degree from the University of Alabama, which is in Tuscaloosa.
