It is well known that after the crisis of 2001, Argentina suffered a rather negative change that led many members of the working class to a state of immutable precariousness. The documentary presents the next chapter after the social outbreak and with President Eduardo Duhalde in charge. What is narrated is another tragedy known as The Avellaneda Massacre in which the piquetero movement began to become more visible after its rather unimpressive beginnings. It all begins with the murder of members Maximiliano and Darío by the police and how they tried to hide what happened. The documentary addresses the political factors that involved the media and the newspaper as a means to distort what happened and harm the image of the piquetero movement. Years after this event and despite having brought the evidence to light, the piquetero movement continued with a negative image that was implanted in society. Although there have been cases of extremist piqueteros, that was enough to stigmatize the entire movement without taking into account the members who only want a decent life. Talking about the picket movement in Argentina is a polarizing debate because the roadblocks become an obstacle and that motivates part of society to be in favor of repression. But when you analyze the whole case that the documentary presents and that the two covered-up deaths were carried out for political purposes, that also makes you question the state quite a bit. If you take into account that the conurbano was created due to the government measures that led to many workers losing their jobs, it is clear that the state does not seek to repair its errors, but to put them aside as something irrelevant. The documentary is a project that was evidently made independently when viewed in enough detail and does not offer anything very striking, but manages to be informative in sociological and historical terms. It gives a good explanation of how these two young people ended up becoming martyrs that led the picket movement to become much more visible. La Crisis Causó 2 Nuevas Muertes is not a great documentary, but it is useful to learn about another event that led Argentina to its most precarious state. My final rating for this documentary is 7/10.
