While Mike Judge has made it clear he doesn't agree with or like his main characters (he once referred to them in an interview as "idiots"), he has also indicated repeatedly that Butt-head is more intelligent than Beavis. In a piece for the New Yorker magazine, Judge applauded the interviewer's theory that Butt-head has to take care of Beavis because no one else will and treats Beavis harshly as a "price tag" for having to deal with Beavis' stupidity. In other discussion, Judge said that he could see an older Butt-head working at a store and having a boring lower-middle-class life; when asked about Beavis' future, he bluntly said "Beavis is a zero."
