When talking about nori, Alton Brown says, "If anybody's ever told you that these green sheets are made of seaweed, they were very much mistaken. It's algae..." In fact, while not all algae are seaweed, all seaweeds ARE algae and the alga that nori is made from (genus Pyropia) IS seaweed. So, while Alton is correct in saying that nori is algae, he is absolutely wrong that it is not seaweed.
