This game can get intense as your party faces monsters in turn based battles which heavily relies on the combo attack system setup which may get very frustrating for the player if they don't set it up right and may result in a game over screen.
The game maintains a very emotionally intense atmosphere. The game, in some aspects, is much more mature and intense than the previous Final Fantasy games.
Some of the monsters might be freaky looking for some kids.
A strong theme of the game is the problem of prejudice, and revenge. Characters constantly speak of killing each other, or even try to take each other's lives.
