Athens 2006: Grand Final

Although the show was entirely broadcast in 16:9 576i standard definition, this show was the first ever entry of the Eurovision Song Contest to be partially produced in 1080p FullHD. This high definition footage was filmed as an experiment of the new HD technology and was never meant to be seen in public, since the HD recording of the show was all of raw unedited footage and not all of the cameras used in the final show were HD capable. Thus, the 1080p version of the show remained hidden in the archives up until 2020, when in the middle of the Eurovision Again campaign launched during the confinement in the Covid-19 pandemic, the HD footage was made public on the Eurovision YouTube channel as it was, with a rough edit mixing the available 1080p live footage with 576i footage from the cameras without HD capability, excluding postcards as well, featuring the scenery at all times including the prop changes between songs.
