Kate Hewlett, who plays Rodney's sister Jeannie, is David Hewlett's real life sister. In contrast to their characters on the show, David and Kate get along extremely well, and both relished the opportunity to act together.

Since ZPM is an abbreviation for "Zero Point Module", the screen should have said "ZP MODULE DEPLETED" or "ZPM DEPLETED". However, this duplication in misuse of abbreviations, while technically incorrect, is commonplace, for example, when people refer to a bank card's 'PIN number' or 'HIV virus'.
