Above-average episode with a fine guest star

S02-E15 features wiry Alfred Lutter from "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" as a chatty, lonely classmate of Buddy's who latches onto the Lawrence family, who politely put up with him (an irritated Buddy less so); meanwhile Nancy is being sent gifts from a silent stalker. One intense dramatic scene--wherein Meredith Baxter Birney's frustrated Nancy blows up, causing Lutter to scurry out the front door--shows what the ever-tidy "Family" was capable of. Cutesy writing (or a winking tag) was often employed to wrap up the Lawrence's hourly problems with a bow, but when the writing is serious--as David Jacobs' script is here--the results are exceptional.
