The USS Montana (BB 67), planned but never built, would have been the lead ship of a new class of battleships that followed the Iowa ships (Iowa BB 61, New Jersey BB 62, Missouri BB 63 and Wisconsin BB 64). The Montana class was canceled by July 1942 in favor of constructing the Essex class aircraft carriers.

The Montana, as represented in this episode, is substantially what the real USS Montana would have been, a large ship reminiscent of the Iowa class, with 4 turrets each having three 16" .50 cal main guns.

Goofs
One of the "mothball" ships attacked by the USS Montana in the Philadelphia Navy Yard is an aircraft carrier with the number 68 on its deck. CVN-68 is the USS Nimitz, in service at that time.
