Paul Eddington delivers a fine performance, very good episode.

Van der Valk is convinced that German Stonemason Wolf Gebhardt is in mortal danger, after a Lebanese hitman is killed in a car crash, carrying a gun, with a picture of Gebhardt.

It is another fine early episode, there's enough mystery and curiosity to keep you enthralled, right up until the very dramatic ending. Yet another episode that convinces me that this series is superior in every way to the remake.

I enjoyed the confrontation between Van der Valk and Kroon, so often Detective duos work as a singular unit, without a single cross word, these two aren't like that, there's often a bit of conflict.

It's always great to see the wonderful Paul Eddington, an excellent actor, just a few years before he'd star in the successful sitcom, The Good Life, he was terrific here as Gebhardt, what a wonderful speaking voice.
