Taro "Arthur" Takamori says he was four years old when the Pearl Harbor attack happened, just like George Takei who plays him. Takei was imprisoned with his family in a United States internment camp after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He went on to write a Broadway play about the experience.

Goofs
At the beginning, Fenton becomes frightened at the unexpected finding of the sword, knowing that it reads that it will avenge the Japanese soldier he killed in World War II. Yet he immediately goes on to invite a Japanese gardener up to his attic, shows him the sword and begins discussing World War II and the gardener's Japanese background.
