This episode features a young Courteney Cox early in her career, long before she found fame on Friends (1994). Ironically, Murder, She Wrote was eventually canceled supposedly due to a ratings war with Friends, as alluded to in the final season's episodes 'Murder Amongst Friends' and 'Death By Demographics'.

Goofs
When Katie McCallum (Pamela Susan Shoop) puts her son Charlie to bed, Katie sets his alarm for 5:30 a.m. so Charlie can go fishing. Hank Sutter (Charles Napier) intrudes on their bedtime routine, but it's not known what time Hank comes by. The next day, when Hank's body was discovered, it turns out that he died between 2:00-3:00 a.m., supposedly just after leaving Katie's trailer. However, Katie was portrayed as a very caring, but conscientious, mother, so it makes no sense that she would put her son to bed only a couple of hours before getting him up to go fishing.
