The rent money has mysteriously shrunk from £80 to just £12, with everyone having dipped into it at some point. George's anxiety levels rise further when he receives a letter from the Inland Revenue, while Larry, entirely unhelpfully, suggests a horse called Front Page.

There's a wonderful moment where Mildred appears in her new hat, prompting George's perfectly delivered response: "You look like Lee Marvin." Genius. The best line of the episode, though, has to be "Did you bring me any wine gums?"

I'd love to know what George had really been doing with that rent money over the years - one suspects the bookies and various landlords saw most of it.

There's also a lovely bit of accidental nostalgia when George rings the tax office and gets through to someone in two minutes. No three-hour queue, no pressing fifteen buttons, no recorded messages testing your sanity.

I actually loved Mildred's hat and coat - she looks great.

A cracking conclusion to series four.
