This is the first of two Christmas-set episodes of the series, the other being the fourth season's "Operation: Silent Night". Unlike most Christmas themed episodes which are normally broadcast days before Christmas, this one was actually broadcast on Christmas night.

Goofs
The kidnapper has the children locked inside a Civil Defense shelter where the temperature will get so high the children will die if they're not rescued in time. These shelters were created to provide a safe place for people to be in case of a disaster or a nuclear emergency. This raises a serious question: of what use is an emergency shelter if everyone who's inside it will die.
