Trivia
This episode appears to be based on the May 2001 shooting at Carnegie Deli. The incident included the murder of Jennifer Stahl, an extra in Dirty Dancing (1987) (which also starred Jerry Orbach). Stahl and two of her friends were shot and killed, and two other friends injured, in her apartment above the Carnegie Deli in New York City on May 10, 2001. Two men were later convicted of the murders.

Goofs
When Briscoe and Green are investigating the crime scene, they discuss the victim's musical equipment. A Rickenbacher bass is shown paired with a Marshall guitar amp (JCM 800 or JCM 900). While possible to use, it wouldn't be a great sounding combination.
